We are Venom…

2018 is set to be a standout year for cinema. Following the superb Marvel blockbusters, Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, two juggernauts that set the bar for their successors, the eyes of the world are looking ahead to the exciting summer season, the marquee period in the cinematic calendar. With exciting features like Solo: A Star Wars Story, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Ant-Man and the Wasp, The Meg, Deadpool 2, Skyscraper, Mission Impossible: Fallout and The Incredibles 2 all headed our way one can be forgiven for overlooking the movies set to be released in their aftermath.

The first of which is a cinematic event decades in the making.

Venom.

This October, renowned Hollywood stalwart Tom Hardy will swing into town as Eddie Brock, ace reporter and a man destined to be consumed by an intergalactic alien symbiote and become the notorious anti-hero, Venom. The character was diluted and abused in Sam Raimi’s sequel Spider-Man 3 and as a result, fans have been calling for his restitution ever since. And now, their prayers have been answered.

Check out the new theatrical trailer:

To compliment this awesome trailer, Sony Pictures have released a spectacular new poster which reveals Tom Hardy’s duality with the symbiote. Set against the backdrop of a San Francisco city skyline shrouded in darkness, this poster hints at the dark tone we can expect to immerse ourselves in come October.

I think its safe to say that this year belongs to Marvel. With Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp and their influence in this new incarnation of Venom, the era of comic book movies is here to stay. With Spider-Man being so heavily involved in the events of Avengers: Infinity War, we cannot wait to sink our teeth into Venom.

Venom, starring Tom Hardy swings onto our cinema screens on October 5.
