Jon Favreau teases the return of a Star Wars fan-favourite in The Mandalorian

Jon Favreau is at it again!

The legendary filmmaker has never been shy about posting teasing pictures from the set of the projects he is tasked with bringing to the screen and that trend has continued with the highly anticipated Star Wars live-action series The Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian | The Return of R5-D4?

Past images have revealed The Mandalorian‘s weapon of choice as a slightly reinvented version of Boba Fett‘s Pronged Plasma Rifle from the Star Wars animated short released during the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. Others have teased us with the long-awaited return of infamous Bounty Hunter IG-88, as well as the return of the infamous ice cream maker! However, our most recent revelation has all but confirmed the return of the fan favourite astromech droid who suffers from a case of bad motivation.

R5-D4

The last time we saw the iconic droid was during the purchase of R2-D2 and C-3PO during Star Wars: A New Hope where we were first introduced to the legendary Luke Skywalker. R5 was last seen being carted away by Jawas following his sudden malfunction which caused his motivator to overload. What happened to the little astromech after that tragic day has remained a mystery until now…but with Favreau teasing us with this awesome first look, it would appear we are set for more adventures alongside R5-D4!
