Top Five: | Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Annlyel explores the finer moments of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones to select her top five moments from George Lucas’ force fuelled sequel

The Star Wars prequels aren’t regarded with much fondness in the Star Wars community for several reasons; Jar Jar Binks, whiny Anakin Skywalker, boring politics, etc. Attack of the Clones, however, is clearly my least favorite movie in the franchise for so many different reasons that if I counted them all we’d be here all day. There are, however, several scenes in the film that I have enjoyed immensely ever since I was a child and so, here are those particular sequences.

Top Five | Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace

5. The Beginning

Attack of the Clones is the only Star Wars movie that pans upward after the opening crawl making this one of the most unique scenes in the franchise.

4. A Beautiful Sendoff

One of the reasons why The Attack of the Clones is my least favorite Star Wars movie is because of the corny romance between Anakin and Padme. I mean, come on, conversations about sand? Really George Lucas? It’s definitely a downgrade from Han and Leia’s iconically riveting love story. I do have to admit though, I love the scene when Padme sees Anakin off before he goes to find his mother with the Tusken Raiders.

Maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s George Lucas’s brilliant choice of showing their shadows on the house, but there’s something about this scene that puts goosebumps on my arms every time.

3. The Battle in the Asteroid Field

George Lucas took the concept of the asteroid field sequence to the next level with this brilliant action scene focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi versus Jango Fett. Not only is it awesome seeing Jango Fett’s flying skills on full display but to think that we got to see the Slave-1, a ship that barely got any screen time in the original trilogy, in action is even better. Ever since I was a child I have LOVED watching this scene and I still do, to this day.

2. Fighting in the Rain

Yeah, I find the scuffles between Obi-Wan and Jango Fett utterly riveting and that’s why both of their showdowns are in my top five favorite scenes in Attack of the Clones. Every time I watch this scene a smile is plastered on my face. Kenobi and Fett’s rivalry was so much fun to watch. 🙂

1. Yoda’s Dark Words of the Future

Hands down, my favorite scene in this film is the scene when Yoda, Mace Windu, and Obi-Wan Kenobi are conversating after the gigantic Geonosis sequence. Obi-Wan and Mace Windu are pleased because there seems to be a bit of peace with the brief defeat of the Separatists thanks to the Clone army but Yoda knows better. He sits in his chair brooding, for he knows that the creation of the Clone army is the beginning of the end.

This scene also has one of my favorite quotes in the franchise provided by yours truly Yoda; “Victory? Victory you say. Master Obi-Wan, not victory. The Shroud of the dark side has fallen. Begun the Clone War has.” Chills every time.

So, these are my five favorite scenes in Attack of the Clones. Like I said before, this may be my least favorite Star Wars film but these scenes are undeniably awesome.
