Excellent Adventures | Darth Elvis Faces the Music

Darth Elvis explores the adventures of Bill and Ted and prepares to face the music in the highly anticipated sequel!

It’s almost 30 years since my most bodacious friend Dave and I embarked on an excellent adventure to the Odeon Cinema in Aberdeen to see Bill and Ted on the big screen for the first time. For the two of us, it was love at first sight and we clamoured to snag every bit of Bill and Ted news and merchandise we could get. I still have the numerous scrapbooks we pulled together during the late eighties and early nineties, full of cuttings from Look In, Smash Hits and TV Hits……yes I’m that old! The movie celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and there has never been a better time to release a sequel to Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey…..the world need’s Bill and Ted, we need Wyld Stallions!

Bill and Ted Face the Music will reunite Alex Winter (Bill) and Keanu Reeves (Ted) and if rumours are led to believe William Sadler as the Grim Reaper. Original creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have written the script for the third instalment and are joined by Producer Steven Soderbergh (Out of Sight / Traffic) and Director Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest). Production Weekly reports that a summer start date is on the cards and locations have been secured for the sequel.

The story will see middle-aged dad’s Bill and Ted still struggling to write the song that will save the world and make Wyld Stallions a household name. To aid the writing process they embark on another time travel adventure with historical figures and music legends in order to write the song that will change the future of life as we know it.

As part of the 30th anniversary, I’d love to see the deleted scenes for Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey released for the first time. Shout Factory has released an excellent Blu-Ray collection, but these scenes have always eluded the fans. Perhaps we will see these on a future Bill and Ted Trilogy boxset.

So until the new film hits theatres, let’s try being more like Bill and Ted, in the words of the two great ones “Be Excellent to each other!”

With a new film on the way, what would you like to see in Face the Music? Who would you like to see make a cameo in the film and what form should a tribute to George Carlin (Rufus) be made in the film? Let us know in the comments section below.
