The legendary composer creates an all-new symphony for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
One of the biggest events in the Star Wars calendar was celebrated this past weekend with the annual May the 4th Star Wars Day festivities. The day was commemorated in stellar fashion via the opening of the franchise’s highly anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme park in Disneyland which saw fans set alarms for the crack of dawn in order to secure their tickets.
Back in April at Star Wars Celebration Chicago Lucasfilm shocked the world when they announced that none other than Star Wars maestro, the great John Williams had conducted a symphony for the park which would accompany visitors around the immersive themed worlds. Named the “Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Symphonic Suite” the theme was played to a stunned audience who were mesmerised by the legend’s latest masterpiece.
And now, to commemorate Star Wars Day, Lucasfilm has made the suite available for the fans to play repeatedly to their heart’s content.
“Since Williams first ushered us into the world of Star Wars with his powerful original score more than 40 years ago, the legendary composer has been crafting the emotional musical beats that complete the storytelling magic from a galaxy far, far away,” StarWars.com commented.
The overture was performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, recorded at Abbey Road Studios, and conducted by Williams’ good friend William Ross. Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra have had an illustrious history together which culminated in the superb original motion picture soundtrack for George Lucas’ prequel trilogy finale Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Whilst composing his brilliant Galaxy’s Edge overture Williams has also been busy working on his score for J.J. Abrams’ finale to the Skywalker saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Symphonic Suite is available on all popular music services and Apple Music.
