First Trailer | Star Trek: Picard

The end is only the beginning for the former Captain of the USS Enterprise

With the return of Jean Luc Picard being heralded as one of the most important events in the Star Trek calendar, fans have been waiting with eager anticipation for their first look at the new series: Star Trek: Picard.

Star Trek: Picard | Patrick Stewart’s New Star Trek Series Gets Its Title

Plot details on the show have been very hard to come by, but we already know that Picard is no longer a member of Starfleet and that his outlook on life has been tainted following the horrors experienced throughout the final days of his tenure as captain of the Enterprise.

Now, thanks to the debut trailer from CBS All Access, we are now getting our first official glimpse at the show. The series picks up 18 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis and the subsequent destruction of Romulus. Enjoy:

Having Picard return to France and assume ownership of his family’s vineyard sets the tone for this new series and taps into classic Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes “Family” and “All Good Things”, the latter revealing Picard’s return to the place of his birth. It is also confirmed that Picard has been promoted to the rank of Admiral, despite not being an active member of the Federation.

Despite the rather sombre tone of the show, it is glorious to see Patrick Stewart walking in the shoes of Jean Luc Picard once again. This new series has promised to be far more grounded experience than anything we have ever seen in Star Trek before and judging by this trailer it looks as if Alex Kurtzman and his team have made it so!

We cannot wait. Engage!

Star Trek: Picard is expected to debut on CBS All Access and Amazon Prime Video in late 2019.
