The Shape Returns! | Halloween II Announced

Jamie Lee Curtis and John Carpenter expected to return

Oh, happy day!

Following on from last years reboot of the Halloween‘ franchise comes today’s news and the announcement from Blumhouse and Universal that ‘Halloween II‘ is entering production. The plan is to commence shooting after Labor Day with Universal possibly eying an October 16, 2020, release.

Jamie Lee Curtis has been confirmed to return in her iconic role of ‘Laurie Strode’ and actresses Judy Greer and Andi Matichak are expected to return as Karen Strode and Allyson Strode respectively. Also returning to the fray are original writer/director/composer John Carpenter, who was a major part of last years successful entry of the franchise and Director Danny Gordon Green. Malek Akkad will produce alongside Jason Blum and Bill Block. Danny McBride will executive produce alongside Carpenter, Curtis and Blumhouse’s Couper Samuelson.

Nothing is known about the storyline of the film but after the end of last year’s film, our trio of heroines were last seen escaping from Laurie’s fortified home as killer Michael Myers was seen to be trapped inside her burning home. Obviously, he survived and is coming after them again! Will the new film pick up straight after the ending of the last film, as the original Halloween II did back in 1981 or will it skip forward a few years? Your guess is as good as mine but I can’t wait to find out.

This is great news for all Halloween fans worldwide and for horror films in general. Last year’s reboot cost $10million to produce and went on to gross over $100million. If the filmmakers can keep the formula fresh and entertain the audience again with the sequel, then we could be in for another scary Halloween night next October. All I ask is make sure to bring back James Jude Courtney as Michael Myers and possibly, get Nick Castle back again? Pretty please??

All I know is that come October 2020, I shall be sitting in a darkened movie theatre somewhere waiting for more of the night HE came home.

Until next time.
