Paul Rudd Joins Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters Sequel

The ageless Hollywood legend officially joins the Ghostbusters cast

Who you gonna call?

The worst kept secret in Hollywood has officially been confirmed. Ageless Hollywood superstar Paul Rudd has officially joined the cast of Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters sequel. News of his rumoured casting emerged from Variety yesterday, but it wasn’t until a video was posted on the official Ghostbusters YouTube page that the news was officially confirmed.

The video shows the firehouse made famous in the previous instalments of the franchise with a voice-over commentary from none other than Rudd himself who quickly announces his involvement in the project.

Check it out:

“When I heard that Jason Reitman was going to be doing a new version in the fall, and my agents called him and said ‘Hey Jason, we hear there’s a part of a young … semi-young, strapping man that needs to be cast, who you gonna call?’ When I heard they were gonna call me, well, you can imagine, I nearly slimed myself. I can’t wait to join the cast this fall for Ghostbusters. In fact, I’m sliming myself right now!”

Little is known about the character (rumoured to be a teacher) Rudd has signed on to play, but he definitely has the comedic timing and the acting chops to fit right in with the returning Ghostbusters cast members. Rudd will now join Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon and McKenna Grace alongside original cast members Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts to bust some ghosts.

Jason Reitman will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Gil Kenan with plans to get underway later this summer for a 2020 release. Ivan Reitman, director of the original movies returns to the franchise as producer. The highly anticipated sequel is said to focus on a family who moves back home to a small town. While there, they begin to learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself.

Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters sequel is due to bust some ghosts on July 10th 2020.

Now if you’ll excuse me…I just slimed myself!
