Aladdin sprinkles some magic over the Secret Life of Pets 2 and John Wick Chapter 3 to claim the top spot in this week’s chart.
Hello and welcome once again to this week’s top-selling movie titles on Digital Download and Disc. Only two new entries hit the chart this week but we have a new number one. After last weeks defeat of the Avengers by John Wick, what could it be? Let’s not hang around to find out.
Climbing one place from last weeks second position to top the chart comes the Live-action remake of Disney’s ‘Aladdin‘. Making its bow on disc this Monday, the Will Smith starring film has managed to fly past a quarter of a million sales in only its second week of release following its bow on digital download last Monday.
Our first new entry makes its bow at number two as ‘The Secret Life Of Pets 2‘ sees itself released on download only. The film, featuring the voices of Kevin Hart and Harrison Ford, didn’t match the box office prowess of its predecessor but still managed to entertain the masses upon its release earlier this year.
‘John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum‘ has run low on ammunition as it falls from last weeks chart topper down to the third position this week. Keanu Reeves and company though are still fighting their way through and has shown it does indeed have the staying power to hang around the chart.
A non-mover at number four this week as former number one ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ hangs on in there. The biggest film of all time at both the box office and the home entertainment market just doesn’t know when it’s beaten and is continuing to show its muscles as one of the best-loved superhero films of them all.
Dropping down two places and rounding out this weeks top five bestsellers is ‘Pokemon: Detective Pikachu’. The film, like some of the other titles in the top ten, has staying potential and is bringing joy to both children and adults alike.
Rising one place to the sixth position on the chart ahead of his October 14th disc release comes ‘Godzilla: King Of The Monsters‘. The second film in the rebooted franchise should move up the chart further when he roars onto DVD and Blu-Ray and will possibly make a bigger impact when the third film, ‘Godzilla V Kong‘ opens at the worldwide box office next summer.
Dropping two places to rock its way into the seventh position comes ‘Rocketman‘, the officially licenced biopic of Sir Elton John. The Taron Egerton starring film has made its bow onto home entertainment disc this past Monday and should rise up the charts again next week.
Our second new entry this week comes in at the eighth position. Repeating its unimpressive turn at the worlds box office, ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix‘ limps its way into the chart ahead of its release on disc this coming Monday. Maybe the film’s fortunes will change once it hits the disc market but after the critical and commercial backlash the film received, hopes are not that high.

Dropping down to this week’s ninth position from last weeks number six is the ‘John Wick Chapters 1-3‘ boxset which does exactly as its title suggests.
Holding strong and bringing the top ten to a close this week is ‘Bohemian Rhapsody‘. The award-winning biopic has held strong in the charts for months now and shows no sign of leaving us anytime soon.
Hitting digital download from 7th October comes the fourth entry in the ‘Men In Black‘ franchise in the form of ‘Men In Black International‘. The new team of Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are on point as the agents ordered to defend the earth from the scum of the universe. Supported by Liam Neeson and the returning Emma Thompson, the film was critically derided upon release and just scraped over the $100million mark at the box office. With stories of behind the scenes problems plaguing the film, it remains to be seen if the paying public decides to pay out their hard-earned cash to bring the film home with them.
Will ‘Aladdin‘ magic another week at number one next week? Will the Men In Black take the top spot from him? Will ‘The Secret Life Of Pets 2‘ bark and claw its way to the summit? Or will something come out of nowhere and grab the chart by the neck and surprise us all? Check back again next week at The Future Of The Force to find out.
Until then, whatever you decide, whatever you watch, happy viewing!
