Star Wars: The Force Awakens Featured

Annlyel shares her favourite moment from J.J Abrams’ relaunch of the saga – Star Wars: The Force Awakens

From the first time I laid eyes on the teaser trailer, theatrical poster, IMAX poster, and the entire movie, I have been in love with this film. Yeah, it’s a fancy rehash of A New Hope, following its near-exact story beats, but it managed to still rekindle the Star Wars fandom with the promise that Disney would, in fact, not ruin our favorite franchise forever.

The Best Moment | Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I love, love, love this movie with a legitimate passion and there are several scenes in this film that I enjoy wholeheartedly but there is one that clearly stands above the rest.

And that is literally the movie’s final scene.

The entire film is exceptional, delivering humorous moments, delightful action sequences, lovable character interaction, and one truly heartbreaking moment that still hurts to this day (I’m pretty sure you know which scene I’m talking about) but that final scene where Rey finds Luke Skywalker is absolute gold.

I remember the first time I saw that scene. I was already an emotional wreck after Han Solo’s tragic demise by the hands of his son, or Finn’s near-death experience when facing Kylo Ren, or Rey’s realizing of her destiny and going to become a Jedi.

As she reached the fascinating world Ahch-To, climbed that long staircase with John Williams’ stirring musical score crescendoing to the peak of excellence, my heart swelled with utter delight. Luke Skywalker is a fantastic character, a hero that has inspired generations of fans. As someone who has always wanted to know what an older Luke Skywalker would look like, it was honestly a dream come true.

Star Wars | Was Luke Skywalker's Conclusion Brilliant or Disappointing?

This scene, every time I have ever watched it, has brought me boundless joy and honestly, it’s one of my favorite scenes of all the movies I have ever watched. And it is clearly one of the greatest cliffhangers of all time.

And last but not least, The Last Jedi.
