Check out Carl’s comprehensive round-up of ALL the “BIG GAME” Trailers from Super Bowl LIV
It’s traditional for the Superbowl to showcase trailers for the upcoming movies and this year has proven to be no exception. Although I admit I have no idea what the rules of American Football are, I tune in every year just to see the trailers drop. This will be a rundown of the trailers from this year as and when they drop.
We start off with the Superbowl spot for ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘. Although the spot doesn’t show us much that we haven’t seen before in the trailers so far, it does give us a fast-paced look at what the movie entails. Let’s take a look:
The final trailer for Disney’s live-action remake of ‘Mulan‘ is up next. The film actually looks to be a thrilling and entertaining remake of the animated original, much to my surprise. We do know that the singing and comedic elements have been removed for this remake and it looks to be a great choice. I can actually see myself sitting in a movie theatre and really enjoying this and that is something I didn’t expect to think. Let us sneak a peek:
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Superbowl without a spot for the latest ‘Fast & Furious‘ movie and so we get a brief spot for ‘Fast 9‘. In reality, the spot is really only a truncated version of the trailer that hit the world on Friday but it’s fun entertainment all the same. Buckle up as we join in the fun:
Next up, we have the Spot for Marvel’s upcoming ‘Black Widow‘. The spot again takes most of its footage from the trailer that hit the net at the back end of last year but does contain an interesting line from Scarlett Johansson’s character. During the spot, we hear her utter the line “The Avengers was not my first family”. Curious. Who is she speaking to when she speaks the line? One of The Avengers? The film is a prequel as, of course, Black Widow died during the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame‘. We will have to wait until May 1st to find out for ourselves. Let’s join the Widow as she makes her presence known:
Walmart unveiled a fantastic advertisement for their stores. In it, we are once again involved with the aliens from ‘Mars Attacks!‘, The Starship Enterprise, Frank The Pug from the ‘Men In Black‘ franchise and in a wonderful part, used Sam J Jones himself to play the part of ‘Flash Gordon‘ once again. Alex Winter appeared alongside himself as Bill From ‘Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure‘ alongside Lego Movie characters, Marvin The Martian, Groot, a spinner from ‘Blade Runner‘ and a cameo appearance from C-3PO and R2-D2 at the climax. It was a fantastic commercial and it was fun seeing all these characters on the screen once again. Grab a cart and let’s have a look at what the aisles have:
We now are re-introduced to Commander James Bond 007 as the spot for ‘No Time To Die‘ explodes. There is a glut of new footage that we haven’t seen before buried within and makes the film seem that much more exciting. It’s the final spin of the Bond wheel for star Daniel Craig and the film looks to be a thrilling and genuine rollercoaster ride from the off. Let us grab our tuxedo’s and delve into the espionage:
Now, we come to our beloved yellow creatures as we get the spot for ‘Minions: The Rise Of Gru‘. Here once again, we get to laugh along with the delightful little monsters as they wreak havoc on and with characters featured throughout the movie. Once again, it looks like the film will entertain kids and adults alike. I can’t get the peanut or the Tupperware bits from my head! I have to admit that I was laughing all the way through the spot as I LOVE the Minions. The spot ends with the announcement that the full trailer will be premiering Wednesday this week. Grab a banana as we spend some time with young Gru and his clan of little helpers:
We have also been rewarded with a spot for Disney+ and their upcoming Series’ ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier‘, ‘WandaVision‘ and ‘Loki‘. All the shows look really interesting and seem to have a lot to offer the viewers. ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier‘ shows Falcon throwing Captain America’s shield and appears to have lots of action. ‘WandaVision‘ does indeed have that 50s show feel but also has a modern twist that is interesting and it’s great to see Paul Bettany back as ‘Vision’ once again after his omission from ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ and ‘Loki‘ has just a brief shot of Tom Hiddleston back once more as the God of Mischief, threatening to burn this place to the ground. If you haven’t signed up for Disney+ yet, check out the spot here and see how you feel afterwards:
Finally, just to round things off, DC has unveiled an advertisement incorporating footage from ‘Wonder Woman 1984‘ into a brief but fun little commercial for ‘Tide’. Check out the Amazonian in all her glory here:
And that just about rounds off our coverage of the Superbowl trailers for this year. Congratulations to the Kanas City Chiefs for their outstanding victory and our sincere thanks to all the companies who released their Superbowl spots during the game. It looks like we are in for a bumper summer of Blockbuster Entertainment and I’m looking forward to seeing many of the films the summer has to offer us.
See you at the Movies!
