Does the Ultimate Lightsaber Duel Await Us in ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2?

Some exhilarating news has dropped about Season 2 of The Mandalorian. Some strong reports have claimed that Rosario Dawson will bring to life Ahsoka Tano‘s live-action debut in the critically-acclaimed live-action Star Wars series this fall. The implications are staggering.
It’s been called for by fans over the last few years that Rosario Dawson should, in fact, play the beloved Star Wars character in live-action but the thought was only a dream. When the news dropped on Friday I had to calmly intake the news like a warm sponge. I didn’t freak out because it’s not official but my eyes definitely widened at the prospect. Suddenly, our glorified imagination was becoming a reality.
The prospect that Ahsoka Tano could be in The Mandalorian gives us a very real chance at seeing something that would utterly blow our minds…and that is a lightsaber duel between Moff Gideon who wields the Darksaber, a powerful weapon important to the people of Mandalore, and Ahsoka Tano.
Think about it, is it a coincidence that this final season of The Clone Wars highlights Ahsoka helping in the fight for Mandalore? We’ve seen her, in trailers, interacting with freedom fighter Bo Katan Kryze and dueling Maul, the at-the-time leader of Mandalore. She was a major part of the Siege of Mandalore but apparently, her efforts didn’t amount to much. The Mandalorians were wiped out in the Great Purge, forced to go underground and live in utter secrecy.
Our title protagonist of The Mandalorian, however, has come face to face with a man named Moff Gideon, the primary antagonist of the series who happens to wield, as I said before, the Darksaber. And now Ahsoka Tano, who once fought to liberate Mandalore, is supposed to be in this season? Giancarlo Esposito’s comments about the second season only seem to corroborate this idea that a lightsaber duel could actually happen.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Esposito revealed his character will be, “in a bit of a struggle with someone else [in season 2], which I’m hoping you will enjoy.” He then added that there will be some “major, major, epic, epic lightsaber action happening on this show.”
If this isn’t screaming Moff Gideon/Ahsoka duel I don’t know what is. Of course, this is simply speculation but if it’s true and we get a glimpse of Ahsoka Tano in the official trailer for Season 2 I. Am. Going. To. Lose it!
The prospects of The Mandalorian is becoming grand indeed.
