Disney’s latest tentpole blockbuster will debut on Disney Plus this summer…
Way back before the coronavirus locked in its stranglehold on the world, Artemis Fowl was being touted as Disney’s next tentpole blockbuster. Sadly, the onset of COVID-19 derailed Disney’s plans and the studio was forced to pull the movie from its cinematic release slate completely. In the weeks since Disney published plans for Artemis Fowl to move straight onto the studios’ new streaming service sometime this year. And now, we have an official release date. Mark the date in your calendars: Artemis Fowl will take flight on Disney Plus on Friday, June 12th. 2020.

Here is the official plot synopsis from Disney:
“Disney’s Artemis Fowl, based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, is a fantastical, spellbinding adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of his loyal protector Butler, Artemis sets out to find him, and in doing so uncovers an ancient, underground civilization—the amazingly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan— so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.”
Personally, I cannot wait to get my first look at Artemis Fowl. Before the onset of the Coronavirus, the movie was high on my list of must-see movies of 2020 and although we won’t be able to catch it on the big screen, we can rest assured that Disney Plus will be the place to be come June 12th.
