Jon Favreau is already well into the writing process on season 3!
Although a single episode from The Mandalorian Season Two has yet to see the light of day on Disney Plus, reports are emerging that a third season of the hit Star Wars series is already well into pre-production. The inaugural live-action Star Wars series debuted last October and delivered THE television series from a galaxy far, far away that the fans have always wanted, and its overwhelming success prompted studio bosses at Lucasfilm to greenlight a second season post-haste.
Thankfully, filming on season two was completed before the coronavirus pandemic practically decimated the 2020 cinematic release calendar and forced the studio into placing the majority of its productions on hiatus until the situation stabilizes. However, according to sources at Variety, Lucasfilm and Jon Favreau are already well into pre-production on season 3, with Favreau rumored to have been “writing season 3 for a while” and the art department crafting concept art for “the past few weeks”. One source said, “We’ve just started pre-production and are looking into further adventures for the Mandalorian in Season 3.”
The Mandalorian season 2 will feature the return of our beloved Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal), as well as Baby Yoda (or The Child – as nobody calls him), Cara Dune (Gina Carano), and Greef Karga (Carl Weathers). New additions to the cast include Aliens and Terminator legend Michael Biehn as a bounty hunter as well as Rosario Dawson who is expected to portray the first-ever live-action incarnation of Ahsoka Tano. And if that isn’t enough to have you igniting your lightsaber with glee, screen LEGEND Jamie Lee Curtis is also rumored to be making an appearance in some capacity.
Start planning your return to the outer rim now … The Mandalorian Season Two hits Disney Plus this October…
