‘Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge’ Departs from Disney+? Why Am I Not Surprised

Annlyel explores why Jedi Temple Challenge found a new home on Star Wars Kids

Disney+ has given us Star Wars fans a lot to digest in the past seven months. We’ve got two new series, one live-action and one animated, that have managed to blow our socks practically off. The Mandalorian was a brand new series that only proved how genius Dave Filoni can be and The Clone Wars gave us the conclusion to a Star Wars story that we deserved (yes, I’m pointing an accusatory finger at you The Rise of Skywalker.)

Now, it seemed, like we would get a new Star Wars-themed series, one that would become the franchise’s first game show: Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge. Turns out, the series will now be available to watch on the Star Wars Kids Youtube Channel or starwarskids.com. What a bummer! Once again, Ahmed Best seems to be getting the short end of the stick.

Now, to be honest, I watched the trailer and it didn’t have the quality one associates with Star Wars and Disney+ but it is cute. The obstacles look as if they were made from a low budget, the Star Wars aspect of the world these children will have to run through doesn’t feel authentic enough, and it shows that while Disney can bring a lot to life, this idea just did not have it where it counts. They put so much work into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Disney World that I guess they decided to take a break on their other projects.

Still, I hope it does well on the Star Wars Kids Youtube Channel but unfortunately, I have no interest to tune in and watch it myself. I get it, it’s not meant for me, right? It’s meant for children. But wasn’t A New Hope meant for children in 1977? That didn’t mean it had to be any less epic. Just saying…
