The Boys Sason 3 - Jensen Ackles

Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles cast as Soldier Boy

In a little over two weeks, the second season of the acclaimed ‘The Boys‘ will debut on Amazon Prime. Those in the know and who follow the show are starting to feel the anticipation as the first three episodes drop on the first day it becomes available to stream. We all were hoping that the show would get a third season at the very least even though the second season hasn’t debuted yet. Well, our prayers have been answered as it has been announced that the show WILL be back for a third season, and, adding to the excitement, the character of Soldier Boy has finally been cast in the shape of Jensen Ackles. To help announce his casting, the actor posted this brief video on Instagram:

The character of Soldier Boy is a World War II veteran and the one that has the dubious honor of becoming the first super celebrity and becomes a mainstay of American culture for decades. By joining the show, Ackles reunites with Eric Kripke once more. Kripke gave the rather tongue in cheek and the amusing statement:

“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream-to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first superhero, he’ll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of ‘Supernatural’ to ‘The Boys’.”

Ackles is just finishing work on the fifteenth and final season of ‘Supernatural‘ about now before moving on to ‘The Boys‘. Amazon Prime has a monster hit on their hands already after the first season of the show and hopes are high that the second season will top the first which gives us reasons to believe that it just might, given the announcement of a third season already.  I LOVE the show and personally, will be waiting for the new season to drop on September 4th and will possibly watch the first three episodes over and over again over the weekend ready to review them on Monday 7th September. And now that our favorite group of foul-mouthed, superhero hating rejects will be back for season three, it looks like ‘The Boys‘ are here to stay for quite a while longer yet.
