Ready To Be Scared? Trailers Drop For Amazon Prime’s ‘Welcome To The Blumhouse‘
If someone mentions the name of ‘Blumhouse‘, you immediately think ‘Horror’ movies. And you would be right to do so. Blumhouse is THE master at the moment of turning low budget horror films into money-spinning box office hits. Take the ‘Happy Death Day‘ franchise for example. Two horror slasher films (with a third possibly on the way) that were low budget but box-office winners. Ok, so the second was more of a horror/comedy but with the beautiful Jessica Rothe giving it her all, both films were enjoyable. There have been a few misfires along the way but when you consider that the company grabbed hold of the ‘Halloween‘ franchise to make a new film and turned out what was arguably one of the best films of 2018 by doing the history of the characters and film justice and they hit box office gold. Who would be better to turn to, to make a series of one-off, unique, scary horror/thrillers than Blumhouse?
Amazon Studios think the same thing as they have teamed up with Blumhouse Television to bring eight planned films to their streaming Amazon Prime Video service. Four of these have been announced as to be hitting the service in October, obviously in time for Halloween on October 31st. To build anticipation for these original movies, trailers for each have been made available along with brief synopsis’ of what the films are about. First up is ‘Black Box‘ which stars Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour Jr (who also directs) and Stephen Herman.
The plot for the film is: ‘After losing his wife and his memory in a car accident, a single father undergoes an agonizing experimental treatment that causes him to question who he really is’. Check out the trailer below:
‘The Lie‘ is written and directed by Veena Sud and stars the talents of Mireille Enos, Peter Sarsgaard, and Joey King and the plot of the film is: ‘When their teenaged daughter confesses to impulsively killing her best friend, two desperate parents attempt to cover up the horrific crime, leading them into a complicated web of lies and deception’. It is the truth to reveal the trailer is below:
‘Evil Eye‘ is an effort that has been directed by Elan Dassani and Rajeev Dassani and stars Madhuri Shekar in a tale that concerns ‘A seemingly perfect romance turns into a nightmare when a mother becomes convinced her daughter’s new boyfriend has a dark connection to her own past’. Let’s cast our eyes on the trailer:
Finally, we have ‘Nocturne‘, written and directed by Zu Quirke and features Sydney Sweeney, Madison Iseman, Jacques Colimon, and Ivan Shaw in a creepy tale which tells us of ‘inside the halls of an elite arts academy, a timid music student begins to outshine her more accomplished and outgoing twin sister when she discovers a mysterious notebook belonging to a recently deceased classmate’. Double trouble ahead as we look into the trailer:
‘Black Box‘ and ‘The Lie‘ premiere on October 6th and ‘Evil Eye‘ and ‘Nocturne‘ follow a week later on October 13th. No details yet regarding the other four movies but when details become available, we will bring them to you. Meanwhile, with what we have been shown so far, I can honestly say that I’m looking forward to what the team-up of Amazon and Blumhouse can deliver to us during the spooky month of October.
