Spider-Man 3 To Film Next Week? A Shock Co-Star Revealed!
It was thought that the third film in Sony/Marvel’s standalone movie franchise of ‘Spider-Man‘ wouldn’t be before cameras until early next year at the very earliest. But it appears that the two studios can’t wait to get things rolling. People in Queens, New York have been asked to move their vehicles on Friday 16th October to accommodate the film crew that is due to film there. The production is going under the name of ‘Serenity Now’ which was revealed earlier this year as the secret name the film would shoot under. Of course, the fact scenes are being shot on the streets next week doesn’t mean Tom Holland or any others in the cast will be there on set but it is a mouthwatering possibility.
Speaking of the cast, we already know that Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei would be returning in the threequel and it has been reported that Jamie Foxx would be returning to play his character of Max Dillon/Electro in the film, a role he played back in 2014 in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘ when Andrew Garfield was the keeper of the suit. But that is just the tip of the iceberg.
It is now being reported that, in a shock move, Benedict Cumberbatch will be appearing in the film as Doctor Strange. And in a smart move from the writers, the plan is for Strange to become Peter Parker’s new mentor after the tragic death of Tony Stark/Iron Man in ‘Avengers: Endgame‘. This would of course give the film and the franchise a great sense of continuity besides the Marvel Universe legacy that has been created and will lead to great possibilities for the next few phases going forward.
There has been no word yet on whether Cumberbatch’s appearance in ‘Spider-Man 3‘ will also carry ‘Spidey’ over into his sequel for Marvel ‘Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness‘ which is due to hit screens in 2022. We already know that Elizabeth Olsen will be in the film as Wanda Maximoff/ Scarlet Witch but can we expect Tom Holland to make a guest appearance as Peter Parker? Time will tell. There have been no details regarding the plotline to the third web crawler adventure as of yet or if the rumor of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will appear in the film. If that rumor is true, it would be more suited to the second Doctor Strange film given how the character will now be appearing in the third ‘Spider-Man‘ feature. But we can all agree that with this news, our attention and our excitement levels have just gone up a few notches on our own ‘Spidey-Sense’!
