The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - 001

Sony’s ‘Spider-Man 3’ Reportedly Adds Two More Former Stars

Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst, and Alfred Molina are returning to the Spider-Verse. Tobey Maguire next?

Now, this is getting EXTREMELY Interesting!

Hot off the back of the news that Alfred Molina has joined the cast of the third film in Sony’s rebooted ‘Spider-Man‘ franchise comes word that the previous incumbent of the Spidey suit, Andrew Garfield has reportedly signed on to reprise his role as the web-crawler. Not only that but former co-star from the original trilogy, Kirsten Dunst has also signed on to reprise her role as Mary Jane Watson in the film. This is in addition to Jamie Foxx who is also in the cast in his role of Electro from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘, Garfield’s final appearance in the role of Spidey.

Further news is being reported that Tobey Maguire, the star of the original trilogy from Sam Raimi is locked in talks with Sony and Marvel Studios with regards to him returning as Spider-Man again. Confused? Don’t be. The film also stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange and will likely be a precursor to his second solo outing as the character in ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness‘. Elizabeth Olsen is also starring alongside Cumberbatch in the film and her series ‘WandaVision‘ starts in January which is where the Multiverse will make its first appearance in the MCU.

The third Spider-Man movie will tie into the Multiverse and bring all three incarnations of the character from 2002 onwards together at the same time alongside several of the villains that have appeared along the way. Michael Keaton is already confirmed to be in the new film playing Adrian Toomes aka Vulture so it could be an incredible must-see movie come next December. Could we hope for Willem Defoe to make a cameo as Norman Osbourne and/or the Green Goblin in the film? Anything is now possible!
