Netflix Officially Cancels Daredevil After Three Seasons

Could Charlie Cox making a stunning return to the MCU in the Spider-Man threequel?

At the moment, I would take this news with a large pinch of salt until confirmed. It is being reported that after the two-year ‘No Use’ clause that was agreed with Netflix expired, Marvel Studios has decided to bring their character of ‘Daredevil‘ back into the fold and to appear in their ever-expanding universe. In two other pieces of ‘News’ that accompanies the report, it is being claimed that Charlie Cox, the British actor who played the character in the Netflix show has signed on the dotted line to play the character once again. And to add to that, it is said the character will make his debut in the upcoming thirdSpider-Man‘ film that is currently shooting. If true, then the production could be one of the biggest Marvel has attempted, even rivaling ‘Avengers: Endgame‘. It would certainly be adventurous.

Now, I would like to see this happen but something doesn’t seem quite right to me. Charlie Cox himself has poured cold water on the reports he was going to return as Matt Murdoch/Daredevil in a Marvel film stretching back to earlier this year, denying he had even been contacted about the possibility. The rumor states that he signed up months ago, something that Cox says hasn’t happened. Adding to the doubt is the news that is now all but confirmed that Tobey Maguire and Emma Stone have agreed on deals to appear in the new ‘Spider-Man‘ film and the cast list is growing ever more crowded. It is certainly not out of the question that Daredevil COULD make an appearance but the character could be lost amongst the excitement seeing the three incarnations of the web-crawler on-screen at the same time.

He could feature in a crowd-pleasing cameo as could Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. D’Onofrio has been vocal about his desire to play the character again but nothing has been confirmed at this time. It looks and sounds like it is something that is hoped to be true but is nothing but a rumor at this point. We will keep everyone up to date with any developments regarding the film or any new casting announcements.
