Disney Investor Day | Alien TV Show In Production For FX On Hulu

Sir Ridley Scott and Noah Hawley to bring the Xenomorphs to Earth in a new Alien series

During the Disney Investors Day event that was held yesterday, one segment was handed over to FX Chairman John Landgraf. Ever since Disney bought 20th Century Fox, they have had the whole catalog of content at their fingertips. Rumors have been swirling around that the ‘Alien‘ franchise would be getting a new big-screen outing as well as a rumored TV show. Well, now it has been confirmed that FX is currently in production on a TV show based on the long-running franchise. What’s more, it was confirmed that Noah Hawley, long rumored to be bringing the classic horror franchise to the small screen, is behind the development of the show and will be executive producing it.

Landgraf told the watching audience that the show will blend “The timeless horror of the first ‘Alien’ film with the non-stop action of the second“. And then he added the doozy. He told the watching world to “Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth“. That one piece of news is enough to make me sit up and take notice. It has long been expected that the Xenomorphs would make an appearance on Earth. It has been seen before in the ‘Alien Vs Predator‘ movies and written about in many tie-novels for the franchise but this could be something that we have never seen before. It could be that the show will follow the battle for the planet between humankind and the Aliens, something I’m all up for.

Is Ridley Scott Returning To The Alien Franchise Again?

If that wasn’t enough, Landgraf also dropped the clincher for me. He revealed that the legendary director, Sir Ridley Scott, the director of the first ‘Alien‘ film and the man behind ‘Prometheus‘ and ‘Alien: Covenant‘ is in talks to executive produce the show. Scott has all the knowledge and foresight to make the show a scary, resounding success, and his inclusion on board would make the show stand out from the rest. The quality of the show would be raised considerably and would almost certainly be a hit. With this piece of news, the future of the franchise has been secured and we can all breathe a sigh of relief that the Xenomorphs are coming to terrify us once again.

In space, no one can hear you scream but outside my front door, you will certainly hear me cheer.
