Michael Myers is stalking the streets of Haddonfield once again in this new image from Halloween Kills.

I, like the rest of the fans of the ‘Halloween’ franchise was left upset and extremely disappointed that the latest movie in Michael Myers’ now 43-year long reign of terror, ‘Halloween Kills‘ had to be pushed back by an entire year. The film will now release in October thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic that continues to plague the world.

By now, we would have seen the middle chapter in director David Gordon Green’s revitalized trilogy and would be eagerly awaiting the climactic part named ‘Halloween Ends‘. Such as it is, we SHOULD be able to sit down to see ‘Halloween Kills‘ in theatres this October.

Thanks to the British Movie Magazine, Total Film, a brand new image from the upcoming sequel has made its way online. It shows the now iconic masked maniac standing on the top of a flight of stairs, cloaked in shadow and clutching his now-infamous kitchen knife in his right hand. Ready to stalk and slash more unsuspecting and possibly completely suspecting victims in his never-ending thirst for blood. Hold your nerve and take a look at the Boogyman below:

Halloween Kills, Michael Myers

Michael Myers

Now, EVERYONE knows that I adore and love Michael Myers. Why? Because he is probably the first movie character that ever really scared me.  As such, I binge watch every ‘Halloween‘ movie every October (Not Rob Zombie’s though, they are NOT Halloween movies in my eyes). And can’t get enough of seeing him slice and dice people without rhyme or reason. An unstoppable force with no motive whatsoever. You can catch me late at night, in a dark living room, completely engaged in whatever is happening on the screen as he goes about his killing spree.

David Gordon Green

Director David Gordon Green told the magazine that the upcoming film is: “about the creation of fear. It’s one thing to be afraid of the Bogey Man, to have someone who might be in the closet, under the bed, creeping around your house…But we wanted to explore next was confusion, misinformation, and paranoia. What happens when fear goes viral? You can’t just stick your head under the covers anymore.”

The director also teased and revealed that the new movie will contain more action than it’s 2018 counterpart:

“When we made the last one we wanted to find a way for someone who’s never seen the original to get up to speed with the story. But this one gets right to the action. It’s very aggressive. It’s more efficient. We wanted it to be an explosive middle before things get streamlined and personal again.”

The Personal Touch

By his comments regarding the third film to be more personal again, can we read into that, that a significant character will see themselves butchered before the end credits this time around? It is feasible that Myers could finally kill Jamie Lee Curtis’ character of Laurie Strode. But if the main character were to die in the new film, my money would be on Judy Greer’s character of Karen Strode, Laurie’s daughter, thereby giving Laurie a huge sense of revenge ahead of the climactic chapter in 2022. I hope I’m wrong and all three generations of the Strode ladies survive (until Halloween Ends at least) but we will have to wait until October 15th to find out.
