Warner Bros. moves up the Godzilla Vs Kong release schedule and confirms a simultaneous release on HBO Max
Godzilla Vs Kong. The ultimate clash of the titans is coming sooner than we thought!
While many of the big-budget releases that are scheduled for release this year are considering their positions, one film has dared to actually move forward. Warner Bros Pictures. have decided that the epic monster smackdown ‘Godzilla Vs Kong‘ will move forward from its May 21st release date to open on March 26th instead.

HBO MAX
The film has been moved around the release schedules for almost two years now, delayed further and further until it finally settled on the May release. In a surprise move though, the studio has moved the film up by two months. Now, this can be viewed in one of two ways. Either Warner Bros. has faith that the theatres will be able to reopen by March to accommodate the film’s release. Or they have decided to dump the film out of the bigger budget blockbuster’s way and let it fend for itself. The film is scheduled for a simultaneous release on HBO MAX and that could detract from its earning power.

LEGENDARY ACTION
Legendary Entertainment, who put up 75% of the film’s budget, recently was considering legal action against Warners. Especially when the studio revealed that their entire 2021 release catalog would be released simultaneously on HBO MAX. A move that threatened Legendary’s profits and went against the release strategy that was previously agreed. However, both parties have now reached a settlement deal, allowing Warners to release the final part of the ‘Monsterverse’ without any legal threat hanging over them.

There has yet to be an announcement on the film’s release overseas, where HBO MAX is not available. In territories where the theatres remain shuttered and look increasingly unlikely to be able to reopen anytime soon. Many countries are currently in the middle of a massive rise of pandemic cases thanks to more infectious strains of the virus that have been detected.

A STELLAR CAST
‘Godzilla Vs Kong‘ stars Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Rebecca Hall, Julian Dennison, Demian Bechir, Zhang Ziyi, Brian Tyree Henry, and Alexander Skarsgard and will conclude the storylines started in the original 2014 ‘Godzilla‘ and its sequel ‘Godzilla: King Of The Monsters‘ and ‘Kong: Skull Island‘.
The film is due to open in theatres and HBO MAX on March 26th.
