The title of The Matrix 4 has reportedly been revealed. Neo and Trinity will return in Matrix Resurrections
The title for the hotly anticipated Matrix 4 has reportedly been leaked. Some eighteen years after the final chapter in the franchise was released, the fourth film, once again starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann-Moss has reportedly been given its official title. And it’s NOT called simply ‘Matrix‘.
The title is expected to be…’The Matrix Resurrections‘. The shocking reveal comes via a now-deleted Instagram post from one of the film’s make-up artists.
RESURRECTIONS
To be perfectly honest, the title isn’t that much of a surprise. And we could have guessed it would follow on from ‘The Matrix Reloaded‘ and ‘Revolutions’ by continuing with the ‘R’ named prefix. But it would be nice to finally get the official word from Warner Bros. that the film has been given an official title. I thought they would go with ‘The Matrix Rebooted‘ but thankfully, I was wrong.
The new film sees the return of Reeves and Moss alongside Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe and Lambert Wilson as The Merovingian. Newcomers including Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jessica Henwick make up the supporting cast. Matrix 4/Matrix Resurrections is directed by Lana Wachowski and will release on December 22nd, 2021.
Warner Bros. Pictures is releasing the movie theatrically and on HBO MAX simultaneously.
