James Cameron’s Avatar reclaims the title of the biggest blockbuster of all-time from Avengers Endgame
Just under two years ago, Avengers: Endgame stole the title of the biggest film of all time. The Marvel spectacular ousted the previous holder ‘Avatar‘. Taking a record $2.797billion around the world, the superhero film reigned supreme. But Cameron’s film didn’t take it lying down. Thanks to a re-release in China, the film has picked up an estimated $8.9million.
And what does that mean? It means that James Cameron is once again King of the world. ‘Avatar‘ has reclaimed its former crown as it now stands on $2,798billion. And that’s twelve years after it was first released. But no matter how you look at it, the science-fiction epic is once again the biggest film of all time at the box office.
The Russo brothers have congratulated James Cameron and his film for retaking its crown in wonderful style. They released a picture of the first letter of ‘Avengers‘ with the rest of the word snapped away Thanos style. The first ‘A’ is still present but it now reads ‘Avatar‘ instead. A classy way to relinquish their crown.
SEQUELS
Cameron now has the problem of living up to the original film with the sequels that are incoming. Long gestating and postponed, the ‘Avatar‘ sequels are due for release over the next few years, starting with ‘Avatar 2‘ next December. It will be interesting to see if the public still has an interest in visiting Pandora thirteen years later. Or has their interest waned somewhat?
We here at The Future Of The Force offer our sincerest congratulations to James Cameron for retaking his crown. And we look forward to seeing what he has in store for us starting next Christmas.
