From the looks of what we have been given, we are in for one crazy ride come August. The level of violence and foul language that we can expect from the film is going to be wild. 2020s ‘Birds Of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn‘ showed what we could expect from an R-rated DC film. And after the language and violence that are were included in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, it shows that a more adult comic book film CAN be successful.
The plotline of the film sees the convicts of Belle Reve penitentiary sent as members of Task Force X to the South American island named Corto Maltese. Their mission? To destroy a Nazi-Era prison and laboratory called Jotunheim which held political prisoners and conducted experiments. Sounds like the perfect place to unleash the squad!
Margot Robbie toplines as Harley Quinn once more. Other returning cast members from the original film are Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg. Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. Plus Jai Courtney returns as the completely unhinged Captain Boomerang. The newcomers include Idris Elba as Bloodsport. John Cena as Peacemaker. Michael Rooker as Savant. Alice Braga as Sol Soria and David Dactmalchian as Polka-Dot Man. Added into the mix is veteran action movie actor Sylvester Stallone who appears in the film as the voice of King Shark.
‘The Suicide Squad‘ is due for release theatrically and on HBO MAX on August 6th.
