Dwayne Johnson‘s DC big-screen debut finally has a release date. Black Adam will take on the world next summer!

The DC Universe has thrown us some brilliant entertainment recently. From ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League‘ and ‘Wonder Woman 1984‘ right back to the very first ‘Wonder Woman.’ We have been given marvelous entertainment.  And now, it’s just ramped up even more.

Dwayne Johnson has announced that his ‘Black Adam‘ superhero movie will hit theatres in July of 2022. The star went onto television to make the announcement personally. We already got to see some concept art of the film during DC FanDome in August of last year. Check out the announcement and Johnson poking fun at NBA legend Charles Barkley below:

Not much is known about the film. As yet, there isn’t even a synopsis of the story. But what we do know is that the film is a prequel to ‘Shazam!‘. Could that mean we may see Zachary Levi make a cameo appearance at the end of the film? It’s doubtful but you never know. Stranger things have happened in the DC universe. Johnson has gone on record saying he would like to take on Henry Cavill’s Superman in a movie. That would be fun.  Johnson also teased fans back in August by uttering a quote from the character:

“Five thousand years ago, Kahndaq, was a melting pot of cultures, wealth, power, and magic. Yet, most of us have nothing, except for the chains around our necks. Kahndaq needed a hero, instead, they got me. I did what needed to be done and they imprisoned me for it. Now, five thousand years later, I’m free and I give you my word… No one will ever stop me again.”

Having Dwayne Johnson as the comic book character is a complete no-brainer. The actor has the height, the build, and the talent to play the anti-hero. And you can be sure he will give the role his all. Alongside Johnson, the film stars Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher. Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate. And Marwan Kenzari as the villain of the movie.
