Chris Rock gets dragged into the Jigsaw rabbit hole in the new chilling trailer for Spiral: From The Book Of Saw
Although the film is not a sequel to the ‘Saw‘ franchise, the upcoming ‘Spiral: From The Book Of Saw‘ is set within the canon. The film, delayed from last year arrives on May 14th in theatres. Lionsgate has today unveiled the new trailer for the horror film. Hold onto your nerves, this is going to get messy:
The film stars Chris Rock, who also executive produces alongside Samuel L. Jackson. The film follows Detective Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Banks (Rock) as he investigates a set of grisly murders. Alongside his rookie partner William Schenk ( Max Minghella), they find the killings are similar to the old ‘Jigsaw’ murders. As the mystery deepens further, Zeke is at the center of a killer’s morbid game. One that involves his father Marcus (Jackson).
From just looking at the trailer, we are assured of several gruesome and gory deaths. The structure seems to fit in well within the ‘Saw‘ universe and could be an effective chiller. The gore and violence have been reduced in favor of character, fear, and tension. Chris Rock wrote the treatment for the film in a departure from his normal comedic endeavors. It will give the film and the franchise ‘a new perspective’ and will contain some wit and humour. As well as some frights along the way.
CAST
Also starring in the film are Marisol Nichols as Captain Angie Garza and Zoie Palmer as Kara Boswick. The movie promises to be a hugely enjoyable and scary thrill ride and you can pretty much accept that it won’t end well for some of the cast. From the looks of it, that includes Samuel L. Jackson too.
‘Spiral: From The Book Of Saw‘ opens May 14th.
