The countdown is on. Get ready to return to the basketball court with the Tune Squad in Space Jam: A New Legacy
The Tune Squad is back! Let’s get this out of the way early. I love Warner Bros.’s classic cartoons. I still watch them today. However, although I found lots to enjoy in the original ‘Space Jam‘, it didn’t blow me away. Some of it made me roar with laughter. Other parts left me cold. But seeing Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny on the same team was enjoyable. And I never could resist Daffy Duck’s self-centered attitude.

Now, twenty-Five years later, a sequel is due for release soon. ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy‘ switches out Michael Jordan to be replaced by LeBron James. This time, James and his young son are trapped in digital space by a rogue A.I. To get them both home, James must take on a powered-up team of basketball stars. And who does he call on? Our beloved Looney Tunes characters. Leading the line once more is Bugs Bunny. Joining him are Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck, Road Runner, Tweety-Pie, Speedy Gonzales, and the legendary Tazmanian Devil, Taz.

To promote the film, several posters have been dropped online showcasing the toon stars of the film. James gets a look in too or at least part of him does! Check them out before they hit the court:
BUGS BUNNY
LEBRON JAMES
DAFFY DUCK
LOLA BUNNY
ROAD RUNNER
TWEETY
SPEEDY GONZALES
TAZ
And just when you thought the fun was over; the studio has revealed a trailer teaser for the movie. More notably, the teaser reveals that the full trailer will arrive this Saturday!
To be honest, LeBron James isn’t who the audience will be going to see. It is those lovable characters who will let rip once again. Audiences will pay their money to see Bugs Bunny humiliate anyone he chooses. Daffy to insult someone and get his just deserts. Lola Bunny to act cute and then kick some ass. Tweety to prove great things come in small packages. Road Runner to whizz around the court (I REALLY hope Wile E Coyote is in the film too). Speedy Gonzales to give them all a run for their money. And Taz to just cause destruction and mayhem throughout proceedings.
‘Space Jam: A New Legacy‘ hits theatres and HBO MAX from July 16th.
