Get ready to be dragged down the Looney Tunes rabbit hole with Bugs Bunny and co in the new trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy

It may have taken twenty-five years to get to the screen but ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy‘ is taking to the court this summer. The sequel to the original 1996 hit was planned after its success but fell through when star Michael Jordan refused to return. This time around, LeBron James takes over the lead role. Joining him once more are the stars of the Looney Tunes cartoons. Added to the mix are Don Cheadle, Sonequa Martin-Green, Cedric Joe, and Khris Davis. The first trailer for the film has now dropped onto the wires. Grab your court shoes and your ball and let’s shoot some hoops:

This time around, the animation starts with its classic look, thankfully. Before shifting to a more modern standard of animation for the remainder of the film. The film looks like it could be an enjoyable family film and one for all ages. With the Looney Tunes characters getting another big-screen runout, it is at least guaranteed to be highly amusing. But can it top the classic spoof of ‘Pulp Fiction‘ from the first film? That single three-second shot was the highlight of the film for me. And one that still keeps me laughing out loud today.

As you saw during the trailer, many other characters make cameo appearances including King Kong, Scooby-Doo, and the Mystery Machine, The Iron Giant, and the dragons from ‘Game Of Thrones.’  The film looks epic in scale and should be a smash hit upon release.

Space Jam: A New Legacy‘ takes to the basketball court in theatres and HBO MAX from July 16th.
