Loki Episode 3

With Loki confirmed to be bisexual, who else in the MCU will follow suit and change the face of the Marvel Universe

There has been a breakthrough in the MCU. Loki, a fan favorite and an MCU alum since 2011, has been confirmed to be bisexual in the latest episode of Loki. It shocked the fandom. And members of the LGTBQ+ community took to the internet to express their profound joy.

See, before that major moment in Loki‘s third episode, “Lamentis” when Sylvie and Loki are having a soft conversation on a train and are speaking about their love lives, hence the reveal that Loki has had female and male love interests in the past; the presence of LGTBQ+ characters in the MCU has been very, very obscure.

ENDGAME

In Endgame, Joe Russo’s newest MCU cameo included him playing a gay man in a seminar with Steve Rogers. In the seminar, he spoke about going on a date with another guy and facing the tragedy of the Blip together. It was a small blink-and-you’ll-miss-it-moment. But his character was the first openly LGBTQ+ character in the MCU. Yeah…

Kevin Feige has said that he will be showcasing much more diversity in the coming phases of the MCU. But until now, it’s just been a waiting game. People were already excited to see Loki’s gender labeled as “Fluid” but that conversation with Sylvie was the whipped cream to the sundae. But he’s not the last.

Eternals

ETERNALS

In November we’ll be getting Eternals where Brian Tyree Henry will be playing an open LGTBQ+ character. His character, Phastos, will have a husband in the film.

Next March we’ll be getting the debut of America Chavez, a Latin-American lesbian in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Thor: Love and Thunder will finally reveal Valkyrie’s bisexuality as we see her try to find herself a queen. And we know that Riri Williams’ Ironheart is bisexual in the comics. We’ve also got Billy and Tommy a.k.a Wiccan and Speed. Billy is a fan favorite who’s known for having a prominent relationship that culminates into marriage with fellow Young Avenger, Hulkling. And Tommy is known for having feelings for Eli Bradley a.k.a Patriot, forming a bit of a love triangle between him, Patriot, and Kate Bishop. And the list is only destined to grow.

Phase 4 of the MCU has already provided so much to the MCU. And it’s nice to see diversity beginning to be realized in such a profound and unforced way.
