It’s official-Winston returns again in Keanu Reeves’ John Wick: Chapter 4!
What would the ‘John Wick’ franchise be without the character of Winston? The owner of the New York Continental Hotel is a vital cog in the franchises’ machine. Without him, the movies would be significantly weaker. So it’s great news to learn that actor Ian McShane has confirmed he will be back as Winston once again. He will once again team up with Lance Reddick, who is also returning in his role as Charon, the Concierge of the hotel. Both will appear in the upcoming ‘John Wick Chapter 4’.
A FRIEND TURNED ENEMY
For those not in the know, at the start of the third film, Winston, although declaring Wick ‘Excomunicado’ at the end of the second, is still Wick’s close friend. By the end of the film, however, Winston turns on him, shooting him several times, forcing him to fall from the Continental’s roof. Why he does this, I will not spoil, but as can be ascertained, Wick survives. And is not happy! It can be safely assumed that Winston and Wick have unfinished business. And Wick is the Baba Yaga (The Boogeyman). Pity poor Winston. Or is he on Wicks’ side still?
Joining Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick will be Donnie Yen. Bill Skarsgard, Scott Adkins, Hiroyuki Sanada. Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson. And, of course, Laurence Fishburne who once again plays ‘The Bowery King’. Chad Stahelski returns as director once more. Writing duties fall to Shay Hatten and Michael Finch who are taking over from series creator and writer of the first three films, Derek Kolstad.
‘John Wick Chapter 4’ is scheduled to open on May 27th, 2022
