Spider-Man from Columbia Pictures' SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME.
What just happened? Surprises galore as Peter Parker and friends return once more!
And the wait is finally over! We have been waiting for the first trailer footage from ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ to crawl onto the wires. The web of secrecy that has surrounded the film has been pretty thick. Now, it has been pierced. Sony has delivered the trailer to the eager Marvel fans at this years’ CinemaCon event in Las Vegas. And it is indeed everything we hoped it would be. Surprises, laughs, stunning visuals. And the classic cartoon theme tune to boot. It is all here. No need to climb the walls, we present it to you below:
SURPRISES!
We don’t get the holy grail of surprises in the trailer (You didn’t expect them, did you?). No appearances from Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield. But we have been given a fair bit. Such as the now almost certain confirmation of Willem Defoe’s return as Norman Osbourne/ Green Goblin. The unveiling of the Multiverse. Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan. And the laughs and seriousness with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, appearing here ahead of his own movie next year.
It certainly appears that Doctor Strange is going to play an integral part of the film’s proceedings. And it does seem to confirm that Cumberbatch will play a major role throughout the film. It was nice to see that some of the footage showed us Strange in action, using his powers once again. The film looks to be a mind bending, universe altering comic book movie. Could it retcon the relationship between Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Zendaya’s M.J? Could this end as ‘Superman II’ did, with a memory wipe for the heroine? It is certainly possible.
VILLAINS!
Of course, we all knew that Jamie Foxx was returning as Electro. And Alfred Molina was back as Doctor Octopus (Doc Ock). But the thrill of seeing Molina back as the classic villain, briefly at the end, is enough to send fans into raptures. His “Hello, Peter” line is both thrilling as well as chilling. We know where this is going to lead. And it’s not good. We didn’t get to see Foxx’s Electro this time. But we did see the Goblin’s grenade, leading us to believe Willem Defoe is back as the character. But the teaser also seems to show the stirring and rise of The Sandman once again. This hasn’t been confirmed but it now seems possible that the character is featuring in the film. This could be the Spider-Man film to end them all.
‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ spins its web (any size) in theatres on December 17th.
Are you excited about the film? Do you think there are many more surprises that haven’t been shown yet? Who are you hoping will make a surprise appearance in the film? Let us know in the comments below with your thoughts!
