Change those dates on the calendar. Your favorites have been pushed back!
News has leaked out from the halls of Disney regarding their output and upcoming films for next year. And the news ain’t good. The House Of Mouse has today announced that all of its Marvel Universe movies have been moved back, some by over four months. Meanwhile, our favorite whip-wielding archeologist has been delayed by a year. The reason isn’t due to any changes in their release tragedy. For the most part, it’s simply because the films in question haven’t been completed yet.
INDIANA JONES MOVES TO 2023!
The first and possibly biggest mover is ‘Indiana Jones 5’. The Harrison Ford starring finale after five films and (now) forty-two years, now moves out of its July 29th, 2022 slot to whip itself a new slot to open on June 30th, 2023. One of the reasons for the delay is simply due to the accident that the actor suffered on the set which saw him out of action for three months. Ford has only just returned to shooting and with so much more left to film and the post-production afterward, it simply wasn’t feasible for the film to keep its date with theatres next year.
DOCTOR STRANGE IS DELAYED FROM TAKING ON THE MADNESS!
Marvel Studios sees its slate pushed back too, Starting with ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’. The Benedict Cumberbatch/ Elizabeth Olsen-led sequel has departed from its assigned date of March 25th, 2022. The Sorceror Supreme now takes on the Multiverse on May 6th, 2022 instead. This first move starts a domino effect on the rest of Marvel’s releases.
THOR’S THUNDER IS SLIGHTLY MUTED!
Thanks to ‘Doctor Strange’ taking his spot, Chris Hemsworth and ‘Thor: Love And Thunder.’ have rolled further into the distance. Instead of opening on May 6th, 2022, Thor will arrive in theatres on July 8th, 2022.
BLACK PANTHER SPRINTS TO NOVEMBER 2022!
The sequel to ‘Black Panther.’ has now shifted out of its assigned July 8th, 2022 slot. ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ will now unsheath its claws on November 11th, 2022. We still await news on how they intend to honor the late Chadwick Boseman in the film and what the story will entail.

CAPTAIN MARVEL WILL MARVEL AGAIN IN 2023!
The three-release pushback of the 2022 Marvel movies has seen several now move to 2023 instead. ‘The Marvels’, the sequel to 2019s ‘Captain Marvel’ has departed from its November 11th, 2022 slot to now reside in a February 17th, 2023 place instead. Brie Larson returns as Carol Danvers/ Captain Marvel once more. This time, she is joined by Iman Vellani as Kamaka Khan/ Ms. Marvel. And Teyonah Parris will return to the MCU as Monica Rambeau, last seen in ‘WandaVision’.
ANT-MAN SHRINKS BACK TO A JULY 2023 SLOT!
Finally for the movies that have a title and have been announced, Paul Rudd and ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantummania’ have now flicked out of its February 2023 release slot. The third standalone film for the character will now open on July 28th, 2023 instead.
OTHER MOVES!
Three as yet untitled or announced Marvel movies have also suffered from today’s moves. All three have been removed from the release schedules. The assigned dates were to have been July 28th, 2023, October 6th, 2023, and October 20th, 2023. One project does remain on the schedule for now. Again, although untitled, it has moved from November 10th, 2023 up a week to November 3rd, 2023 instead.
We will, of course, keep you informed of any further release date changes right here at The Future Of The Force.
