The line between hero and villain will be broken on January 28th, 2022. Morbius brings Marvel’s Vampire back for Plasma
We have waited. We are ready. And so, finally is Sony Pictures’ ‘Morbius’. The big-screen debut of the Marvel character has been delayed several times thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was originally due to open back in July of last year. It was then delayed again and again before it settled on a release date of January 28th, 2022. But things are looking good for the film to hit screens around the world. Today has seen the long-awaited new trailer for the film hit the wires. And to say it looks menacing would be an understatement. Hold your nerve and take a look below:
THE CAST AND CREW
Jared Leto leads the cast of the film, playing the role of Dr. Michael Morbius. Morbius is suffering from a rare blood disease. He attempts a dangerous cure for his condition which leads to him developing a form of Vampirism. Matt Smith is playing Morbius’ friend Loxias Crown, who suffers from the same rare blood disease.
Adria Arjona appears as Martine Bancroft, Morbius’ fiancee. Jared Harris is Morbius’ mentor. Tyrese Gibson plays Simon Stroud, an FBI agent hunting Morbius. Al Madrigal is Alberto Rodriguez, another FBI agent. And Michael Keaton is reprising his role of Adrian Toomes/Vulture from ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
The film is directed by Daniel Espinosa. It has been written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, based on the character created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Lucas Foster are on producing duties. Jon Ekstrand will provide the film’s score. The film has been a co-production between Columbia Pictures and Marvel Entertainment. And is distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing.
I think the trailer looks amazing. It is everything that a Morbius fan could ask for. We see some scary footage, some of which makes me consider what rating the film will receive. It also has some easter eggs that the eagle-eyed fan will pick up straight away. And the trailer does provide some good humor, especially the final shot of the trailer. Does this mean that the three Sony MCU properties MAY yet cross over? We can only keep our fingers crossed!
‘Morbius’ opens on January 28th, 2022.
What did you make of the trailer? Is it everything that you hoped for? Will you be going to see the movie when it opens? Why not let us know your thoughts!
