Variety reports the actor to star in the HBO MAX series!
We should have already seen Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ by now if things were different. But thanks to Covid, we have to wait until March of next year to see Robert Pattinson’s take on the Dark Knight. One of the co-stars of the film, Colin Farrell, will appear as the Penguin during the proceedings. But the actor has already revealed we won’t be seeing too much of him as the character. Earlier this year, it was announced that HBO MAX would be making a series centered around the character. But it was unknown if Farrell would portray the Penguin in the show. It has now been confirmed that Farrell will indeed bury himself under the makeup once again to star in the series.
FARRELL, REEVES, AND CLARK TO EXECUTIVE PRODUCE.
Not only has Farrell signed on to reprise the role of Oswald Cobblepot, but he has also been confirmed to be one of the show’s executive producers. He will be joined by ‘The Batman’ director Matt Reeves as well as producer Dylan Clark, who will also hold executive producing roles. The series is set to be a ‘Scarface-Like’ story depicting The Penguin’s rise to power amongst the worst of the Gotham City underworld. Lauren LeFranc is onboard to write the series. Matt Reeves also has another HBO MAX series in the works concerning the Gotham City P.D. This show, however, will be a prequel to the events of ‘The Batman’ and will explore the corruption that is at the core of Gotham.
‘The Batman’ hits theatres on March 4th, 2022. ‘The Penguin’ series will hit HBO MAX sometime in the future.
