Escalating COVID cases forces the Sony Comic Book movie to be delayed yet again.
You have to feel bad about the Jared Leto comic book film ‘Morbius.’ The film was originally due to open on July 10th, 2020. After a further five delays saw it pushed back to a January 28th release slot, the film has been given its seventh release date. It has now been delayed until April 1st. The delay is being blamed on the rising cases of the Omnicron variant of the Coronavirus around the world.
The official synopsis for the film is:
One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first, it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?
Alongside Jared Leto, the film also stars Matt Smith as Morbius’ friend Loxias Crown. Crown also suffers from the same blood disease. Tyrese Gibson as FBI agent Simon Stroud, Adria Arjona as Morbius’ fiancee Martine Bancroft. Jared Harris plays Morbius’ mentor. And Michael Keaton returns as Adrian Toomes/ The Vulture in the film, reprising his ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ role.
‘Morbius’ will now open on April 1st,2022. That is until it possibly gets pushed back and delayed yet again! Watch this space!
Will you still be going to see the film at the movies? Or would you rather it was released on streaming instead? Do you think this is the first of many film delays we will see this year? Why not let us know your thoughts.
