Lee Child’s hero will return for another bout of mayhem and violence.
Let me tell you something from the start. I love Lee Child’s Jack Reacher books. I own every one of them and consider them a highly enjoyable way to entertain myself. I also happen to like the Tom Cruise movies with him playing the character. Ok, so the original film ‘Jack Reacher’ (Based on the novel One Shot) is miles better than its sequel ‘Never Go Back.’ But apart from being too short for the role, Cruise played the character pretty well. That was before Alan Ritchson stood up to take the role in Amazon’s ‘Reacher’ series that debuted last week. Now, the fans and even I are asking ‘Tom Who?’
If you haven’t checked it out yet, what are you waiting for? The show is completely riveting. Violent, nasty but keeps you hooked from the opening scenes to the final shot during its eight episodes. And Ritchson IS Jack Reacher. He is the right height, the right build, and fits the character perfectly. The season is based on the novel ‘The Killing Floor’. And for the most part, follows the book and its events perfectly. So, why am I telling you all this? It’s because the show has been given a second season already.
SECOND SEASON ANNOUNCED
The first season hit Prime Video barely three days ago. But with a phenomenal viewing success, fans’ delight, and critical applause, Reacher WILL be back. Announcing the news of a second season, Head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke excitedly explained:
“The phenomenal debut of Reacher is a testament to Lee Child’s creation of one of entertainment’s most well-known heroes, Nick Santora’s original approach to the storytelling, Alan’s brilliant embodiment of the character, and the dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera to make such an undeniably binge-worthy series, The global impact of Reacher makes it one of Prime Video’s biggest series debuts, and we can’t wait to bring fans a second season of their new favorite show.”
NICK SANTORA SPEAKS
The showrunner of the series, Nick Santora chipped in with:
“The entire Reacher team – cast, production, writers, etc. – is so happy with the wonderful reception the show has received. Amazon, Skydance, and Paramount have been such fantastic partners and everyone is excited to roll up their sleeves and get to work on what will be a great Season 2.”
And refusing to be left out when it comes to the announcement regarding his created character, Lee Child himself added:
“Partnering with Amazon Studios for season one of Reacher was a total delight – they had our backs every step of the way, and it really shows, in every line and every frame. So, I’m thrilled we’ll be working together again, for Season 2. This is very exciting news, and I can’t wait to get started. Reacher couldn’t be in better hands.“
‘Reacher-Season 2’ is currently in development and will be released on Prime Video at an as-yet-unannounced future date.
