“The Book of Boba Fett has undoubtedly expanded the lore of this franchise and found a concise way to bring Mando and Grogu back together”

For the past seven weeks following this spinoff of one of Star Wars‘ most interesting characters has been an emotional rollercoaster. At times it’s been the funniest ride to get on. And at other times it’s been one of those rides you immediately deduce you’ll never get on again. It’s safe to say, my feelings for The Book of Boba Fett have been mixed. I’ve been elated and deflated, cheerful, or wanting to give the showrunners an earful. It’s been a lot but now the finale is finally here and I have a lot of thoughts. Because most of those “thoughts” aren’t particularly good I’ll stick to the positives here.

RANCOR’S AND REUNIONS

First off, the finale is, thankfully, exactly an hour long. That means there’s plenty of time to enjoy the action-packed showdown that ensues. Boba actually does get to ride that Rancor Danny Trejo gifted him in the third episode so yay. And boy does that Rancor get to shine. Boba’s new pet is excitingly savage and I loved every second of his involvement in the show. Mando’s reunion with Grogu is nothing less than the cutest moment we may ever get in this franchise. When I tell you my heart was full watching Grogu leap into Mando’s arms. Oh, it’s too much!

CAD BANE

I enjoyed seeing Cad Bane again… that is until Boba killed him. I wasn’t exactly angry at the outcome because I knew it was going to happen. But…it still hurt a little. I’m a Cad Bane fan so I was hoping he would make it for an epic return in Season 2. On that matter, will there be a second season? My initial thought was yes but now that I think about it I don’t think there will be. Boba’s story is not finished but I have a feeling it will be told in other ways, like maybe comics or novels. And then eventually we’ll see him again ready to kick butt.

SEASON 2?

If there was a second season I would want him to meet his unknown sister, Omega. I think it would absolutely blow his mind. Unless something happens to her of course before the events of Return of the Jedi. And of course, I have to mention the post-credit scene which was one part hilarious, one part worrying. I knew Cobb Vanth wasn’t dead but I don’t like the idea of him becoming modified like the droid-part gang. I think that’s going to end up being a bit ridiculous but hopefully, I’m wrong.

VERDICT

All in all, as a whole, The Book of Boba Fett has undoubtedly expanded the lore of this franchise and found a concise way to bring Mando and Grogu back together just in time for Season 3. Now onto Obi-Wan Kenobi. 👍🏾

The Book of Boba Fett is now streaming in its entirety on Disney Plus.
