A fourth film in the franchise is on its way alongside an original film from the animation studios.

If there’s one animated film franchise that I love, laugh at, and watch regularly it’s the ‘Despicable Me’ series. I laugh until I cry at various points during proceedings. And anyone who knows me will tell you I LOVE the Minions! I think they are the funniest characters in the movies and their own spin-offs. I have been waiting, rather impatiently I may add, for the Minions sequel ‘Minions: The Rise Of Gru’ to finally open. But thankfully, the film is set to open on July 1st. While that news is great, what has been announced is even better. Illumination and Universal Pictures has announced that a fourth ‘Despicable Me’ film is on the way.Minions-The-Rise-Of-Gru-001

Once again, Steve Carell will be on hand to lend his voice to the ex-villain, now turned father Gru. To be honest, without Steve Carell, the film wouldn’t work. Also scheduled to return are Kristen Wiig, Steve Coogan. Miranda Cosgrove, and the voice of the Minions himself, Pierre Coffin. Again, without Pierre Coffin’s vocals for the lovable yellow creatures, the film wouldn’t work. Chris Renaud, who directed the first two ‘Despicable Me’ films is returning to helm the fourth. And he will be joined by animation director Patrick Delage, who will be co-directing. The film is set for release on July 23rd, 2024.

The second film that the two studios have announced and are working on is called ‘Migration.’ The film is said to tell the story of a family of ducks. The family manages to convince their over-protective father to go on the vacation of a lifetime. They attempt to migrate from New England, through New York City, to spend their vacation in the Bahamas. Benjamin Renner is on the directorial duties. Mike White has written the screenplay for the film. And the founder of Illumination Entertainment, Chris Meledandri will be producing the film. It is set to be released on June 30th, 2023.

‘Minions: The Rise Of Gru’ will cause mayhem when it opens on July 1st. ‘Migration’ will be flying our way on June 30th, 2023. And Gru, the family, and the Minions will return once more in ‘Despicable Me 4’ on July 23rd, 2024.

Are you a fan of the ‘Despicable Me’ films? Are you a fan of the Minions? Do you think ‘Migration’ will be a success? Drop us a Bello in the comments section below!
