Sienna Guillory will join Jason Statham in the Warner Bros’ prehistoric shark sequel The Meg 2: The Trench
Filming is currently underway in London on the Warner Bros sequel ‘Meg 2: The Trench.’ Jason Statham returns once more as the hero, Jonas Taylor. He is joined by fellow returnees Cliff Curtis, Page Kennedy, and Shuya Sophia Cai. Strangely, Li Bingbing isn’t returning. It was said she would be back for a second go-around with the Megalodon but will be absent. It leaves us wondering why the actress is not returning this time around.

NEW CAST MEMBERS
While the participation of Li Bingbing isn’t happening, several new cast members have been announced. These new members of what could be a tasty feast for our giant shark friend are Sienna Guillory. Skyler Samuels, and Sergio Peris-Mencheta. Both Sienna Guillory and Sergio Peris-Mencheta appeared together in ‘Resident Evil: Afterlife.’ back in 2010. It is reported that Skyler Samuels is playing an adventure-loving team member of Statham’s new submarine crew. Sienna Guillory is the head of an applied science division. While Sergio Peris-Menchetta is playing a hard-edged mercenary and one of the film’s primary antagonists. It is also being reported by Variety that martial artist turned actor Wu Jing will also appear in the film.

BEHIND THE CAMERA
Ben Wheatley takes over the director’s chair this time from Jon Turtletaub. The writing team from the first film, Dean Georgaris, Erich Hoeber, and Jon Hoeber have again written the script for the film. It is based on the novels by Steve Alten. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Colin Wilson, and Belle Avery are on producing duties. Steve Alten himself has expressed interest in the sequel’s script. The author went as far as to say the film will have a ‘Dark’ tone and has the potential to be an R-rated movie. I would love to see an R-rated version of the material. But something tells me that Warner Bros. won’t allow that to happen and instead, the film will be rated PG-13 as was the original film.
‘Meg 2: The Trench’ is currently in production and will be released at a future date to be confirmed.
