Godzilla Vs Kong

Deadline reports that the monster sequel is lining up to start filming this summer.

Deadline is reporting that ‘Godzilla VS Kong 2’ is gearing up to shoot later this year. It is being reported that the film will be shooting in Queensland, Australia. This comes courtesy of Screen Queensland, the government agency. It is saying that the film will create over 500 new jobs for the local crew and cast, as well as providing opportunities for 750 extras.

ANNASTACIA PALASZCZUK SPEAKS!

The State Premier of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk had this to say about the upcoming movie sequel:

“The production is expected to inject more than double the $36.5 million that Godzilla Vs Kong brought to the state and is a welcome boost to our economy as we recover from the impacts of the global pandemic and southeast Queensland flooding events. These types of productions benefit our screen industry, deliver local jobs, and provide a welcome boost to our small businesses and communities in and around our production sites.”

THE MONSTERVERSE CONTINUES!

We still don’t know if the film will be a theatrical release or will go to HBO MAX. It has been reported that the Monsterverse would continue on the streaming service. But for a film such as ‘Godzilla VS Kong 2‘, it really needs to go into theatres. We also don’t know who will be appearing in the film. Or even if it will continue on with the storylines used in the previous films. Adam Wingard, the director of the original ‘Godzilla VS Kong’ has already expressed his interest in returning. He told Deadline previously that he would “absolutely love to continue” directing films in the Monsterverse, adding:

“The clear starting point we teed up (in GVK), exploring Hollow Earth, I think there is a lot more to do there. This is a pre-history of Planet Earth, where all the Titans come from. We tee up some mystery in this film, things I want to see resolved and explored and pushed to the next level.”

THOUGHTS

I’m all for another monster smackdown. And a sequel featuring the two biggest titans in the Monsterverse HAS to happen. However, a sequel will need to include a lot more of Godzilla this time. And Kong has to be less family-friendly and more like the Kong we know, love, and fear. The last film felt to me as if the pair of them were fighting with one hand tied behind their backs. They need to be fully unleashed this time around, to battle each other with no let-ups. Of course, both will survive their rematch and again join forces to take on a much larger villain or villains that are a threat to them both. I have my ideas of what I would love to see happen in the sequel. But whether they come to fruition is an entirely different matter. But I guess we will have to see what Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures bring us this time around.

Are you up for a second battle between the two titans? What direction do you think the makers should go down this time? Are you a fan of either or both of the greatest monsters in movie history? Why not let us know what you think!
