This week on The Official Chart, we start to Sing again, and we experience a Death On The Nile, But it is Spider-Man who reigns for a fifth week!

Welcome to The Official Film Chart.

THE BATMAN IS NOW AVAILABLE ON PVOD!

It only hit cinema screens early last month. But the smash-hit superhero movie ‘The Batman’ is now available to rent on PVOD. Although the film is still in cinemas worldwide, it is available to rent for £15.99 for those who preferred not to venture out to see it on the big screen. The film is scheduled for release on digital to buy later next month before the eventual physical formats release. Robert Pattinson takes the main role as Batman/ Bruce Wayne in a darker take on the legend of the Dark Knight. It certainly isn’t for everyone as it does contain some disturbing imagery and events. But for the duration of its three-hour runtime, it will bring enjoyment to the home audience. Many critics have called the film “The best Batman film ever!” I disagree with that statement but have to admit, the film is a worthy watch all the same. It is available to rent from your preferred site now.

THE OFFICIAL CHART

As for what is available for us to buy and keep at home, it is the normal situation. We see some titles arrive, we see some depart, and we see the usual place shifts. This week, however, it is the turn of ‘Spider-Man: Triple Boxset’, ‘No Time To Die’, Encanto’, and ‘Fast & Furious 9’ to depart us. But what is that all-important number one title? Are we still entranced by the spider’s webs? Are we sitting at home, screaming? Are we finding sand everywhere? Or has something else decided to sit pretty at the top of the chart? It’s time for us to find out.

SPIDER-MAN REMAINS WEBBED IN AT THE TOP OF THE CHART!

Told you, didn’t I? There is no stopping ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ from continuing its winning run at the top of the charts. The film enjoys a fifth week holding the top spot. The third solo movie starring Tom Holland as the title character is one of 2021’s standout movies. This is the kind of entertainment most of us yearn for. And the film delivers it in spades. Running for almost two and a half hours, the film grips us from the start and hardly lets’s go. It starts from the second the previous film ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ ended. And brings us fun, laughs, tears, action, and some incredible crowd-pleasing moments. The appearances of Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their own versions of the character are now well known. But we also get a cameo from Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/ Daredevil thrown in for good measure.

GHOSTFACE MAKES US ALL SCREAM AGAIN!

Thanks to hitting the physical formats, ‘Scream’ moves back up. The fifth chapter of the long-running franchise now occupies the second spot on the chart. Once again starring Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette, the film brings the series back to its brutal best. Once again, Ghostface is terrorizing the town and people of Woodboro, killing anyone he deems fit to. And it is down to Sidney Prescott (Campbell), Gale Weathers (Cox). And Dewey Riley (Arquette) to stop the costumed killer once more. The film contains several grisly killings and contains buckets of blood. It also returns to its self-referential classic best. Making it a great way to sit down and be scared out of your wits.

TIME TO START SINGING AGAIN!

Our first of three new entries this week enters the chart in the third position. And it is a musical hello to the animated sequel ‘Sing 2.’ It enters the chart on digital downloads alone. The star-studded cast includes Matthew McConaughey, Reece Witherspoon. And Scarlett Johansson alongside musicians Halsey. Pharrell and Bono. The story is set after the events of the previous film, where Buster Moon and his group put on a show in Redshore City. All the while working to impress an entertainment mogul and enlist a reclusive rock star to perform. It is an enjoyable film for kids of all ages. And with the bonus features it contains, will keep everyone occupied for hours.

POIROT INVESTIGATES A DEATH ON THE NILE!

Our second new entry of the week investigates the fourth place. It is a welcome back to Kenneth Branagh as Hercule Poirot in the remake of ‘Death On The Nile.’ Branagh once again directs and stars as the Belgian sleuth. The film is available to watch on Disney+ for all subscribers. But it is worth picking up and having in your home library. An all-star cast including Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer. Russell Brand, Dawn French, and Jennifer Saunders gather together as the usual suspects in a shocking murder mystery. This remake of the classic Agatha Christie novel is yet again a wonderful adaptation of the author’s work. It will have you guessing and counter-guessing throughout. And ends with a satisfying conclusion.

DUNE GETS BLOWN AWAY!

Last week’s number two has been blown away to become this week’s number five. After critical acclaim, great box office, and a slew of awards, ‘Dune.’ starts to drift. The epic second big-screen version of the Frank Herbert novel recently made its debut on Sky Movies. But it is a film that demands that it takes a place in your collection. With Timothee Chalamet, Josh Brolin. Oscar Issac, and Jason Momoa amongst its cast, the film needs to be experienced. It remains a standout science fiction classic that will live on in the mind long after it has concluded.

THE CHART TRAVELS TO BELFAST!

Our final new entry into the chart this week makes its appearance in sixth place. And Kenneth Branagh makes his second appearance of the week. His Oscar-Winning semi-autobiographical film ‘Belfast’ arrives from PVOD. The film tells the story of a working-class family living through the turbulent streets of Belfast in the late 1960s. The film, starring Ciaran Hinds and Judi Dench is a wonderful tale. It is moving, and sad but also contains some scenes that will make you roar out loud with laughter. Well acted, and expertly written, the film is a wonderful addition to British cinema.

FINISHING OFF!

And we are done for the week. It has been yet another brilliant week on the home entertainment front. And we have seen some great new titles arrive inside the top ten placings. Things are starting to heat up with new releases of some big titles heading our way. Shortly, we can expect to see ‘Uncharted’, and ‘Jackass Forever’ make themselves known in the chart positions. And that’s before ‘The Batman’ decides to emerge from the shadows to make himself available to buy and own. Those three titles are in the future. But for now…

Whatever you decide, whatever you buy, stay safe, be kind, look after each other, and happy viewing!
