It is time to wish upon a star once again as Tom Hanks’s portrayal of Geppetto brings the classic tale back to life in Disney Plus’ Live-Action Pinocchio.
September the 8th will see the return of Disney+ Day. It will also be the day when the lovable ‘Pinocchio’ will return, this time in a live-action remake from director Robert Zemeckis and star Tom Hanks. Hanks portrays the role of kindly woodcarver Geppetto in the film, who creates a puppet he raises as if he was a real boy. Many of us will remember the 1940 animated version from Disney, which to this day still pulls the heartstrings and will bring tears to the eyes of the audience. Disney has today carved out the first trailer for the film. Let us wish upon a star as we take our first look:
Starring alongside Tom Hanks in the film are Cynthia Erivo as The Blue Fairy and Luke Evans as The Coachman. Lending their vocal talents to the characters are Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Pinocchio, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as his sidekick, Jiminy Cricket. Keegan-Michael Key as ‘Honest’ John Worthington Foulfellow, a fox who cons Pinocchio. And Lorraine Bracco as Sophia The Seagull. Based on the 1940 animated film of the same name and the 1883 Italian book ‘The Adventures Of Pinocchio’ by Carlo Collodi, Robert Zemeckis and Chris Weitz provide the screenplay. Chris Weitz and Andrew Milano produce the film while Alan Silvestri provides the score.
THE FIRST POSTER
‘Pinocchio’ will have no strings to hold him down when he debuts exclusively on Disney Plus Day, September 8th.
Do you think the film will be a worthy Live-Action remake of the classic tale? Do you think Tom Hanks will make a good Geppetto? What do you make of Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the voice of Jiminy Cricket? There are no strings on your thoughts so feel free to carve them out in the comments section!
