Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Gets A New Poster

Remind yourselves of some of the best moments from Sonic’s two movie adventures so far ahead of the release of Paramount Pictures’ Sonic The Hedgehog 2 which is available to Download And Keep on June 15th!

This Wednesday will see the digital download release of Paramount Pictures ‘Sonic The Hedgehog 2.’ The film is, quite simply, probably THE family film of the summer. It is full to the brim of laughs, thrills, spills, and great performances. And is not only a worthy sequel to the first film but a great family film all-around. In preparation for Sonic’s arrival on download and keep, let’s take a look at some of the most memorable moments from his cinematic journey so far.

Sonic (Ben Schwartz) in Sonic The Hedgehog from Paramount Pictures and Sega.

In this terrific scene from the first film, Sonic plays a game of Baseball…by himself! He plays the role of each position including pitcher, batter, outfield players, and even the commentator…all at once! It’s a fun and tender scene that shows Sonic’s fun-loving personality but also his loneliness in such a big new world he finds himself in.

Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) in Sonic The Hedgehog from Paramount Pictures and Sega.

One enemy of Sonic’s who just about measures up to him is evil scientist Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey). In the first film, their battle is split into two parts; the first battle on the road with the drones when Tom (James Marsden) assists Sonic as his getaway driver, and the other final battle which is the ultimate showdown near the film’s climax. There are elements of comedy in these scenes which help balance out the seriousness of it all but it reminds us why their feud is one of the best in all of gaming history.

Knuckles (Idris Elba) and Sonic (Ben Schwartz) in Sonic The Hedgehog 2 from Paramount Pictures and Sega.

Loyal Sonic fans are more than aware of the rivalry that develops between Sonic and Knuckles (Idris Elba). In Sonic The Hedgehog 2, their anticipated showdown is absolutely electrifying! The visual graphics, the punching combos that Knuckles and Sonic use against each other, and the score that plays throughout their battle does a magnificent job of amplifying the tension, making the entire scene look and feel heavier and ultimately, more superior.

When you think about Sonic, you also think about his most trusted and loyal sidekick, Tails! This scene from the second film will have you smiling from ear to ear when they are first introduced to each other. You quickly realize why Sonic trusts him so much as Tails is eager to help him on his mission and refuses to leave his side, even if his life depends on it. Their friendship, loyalty, and trust define them as brothers in arms.

Tom (James Marsden) And Sonic (Ben Schwartz) in Sonic The Hedgehog from Paramount Pictures and Sega.

One of the most iconic scenes from the first film sees Tom (James Marsden) and Sonic letting off some steam in a local bar until some patrons start a bar brawl much to the excitement of the mischievous Sonic. All of a sudden the fight becomes slow motion as we see the chaos unfold through Sonic’s eyes as he hops around serving everyone their comeuppance and playing pranks. It’s a touching scene as we start to see Sonic and Tom bonding like father and son.

Knuckles (Idris Elba) in Sonic The Hedgehog 2 from Paramount Pictures and Sega.

Fans can expect to see some explosive action in Sonic The Hedgehog 2 as Knuckles joins the gang on the big screen for the first time. The comedy elements of one scene in particular, where Knuckles chases Sonic and Tails down a mountain on a snowboard is great comedic action as they have a feisty yet hilarious exchange of words whilst racing after each other. It’s a great scene that reveals a little more about Knuckles’ character and relationship with Sonic.

‘Sonic The Hedgehog 2’ is available to Download And Keep from the 15th of June.
