Godzilla vs Kong 2 To Open In March 2024!

Reports suggest that the Monsterverse will continue in Godzilla vs Kong 2 on March 15th, 2024. While Dune Part Two gets pushed back by a month.

Mark the date in your calendars. On March 15th, 2024, the Monsterverse will continue. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. will unleash Godzilla VS Kong 2 onto the world. Details on the film are being kept very close to their chests. But we know that Adam Wingard is returning to direct the movie after his success with the original movie, and Dan Stevens has been cast in the film. It has also been confirmed that the film will again have an IMAX release. Meaning the world can see the two titans go at it once again on the biggest screens possible. And it also means no simultaneous release on HBO Max.

Godzilla vs Kong
(L-r) GODZILLA fights KONG in Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ action-adventure “GODZILLA VS. KONG,” a Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary release.

The plot of the first movie saw Kong clash with Godzilla as humans lured the ape into the Hollow Earth. This was to retrieve a power source for a secret weapon to stop Godzilla’s mysterious rampages. And, of course, it set up a battle between the two titans and MechaGodzilla, who was sadly wasted in the film. I’m up for a second round of the two titans slugging it out. But I just hope that Godzilla isn’t relegated to a cameo again. And Kong isn’t as kiddified as he was in the last film.

In other news that has leaked out of the halls of Warner Bros, it is being reported widely that the sequel to the box office epic ‘Dune’ has been delayed. But fear not, the delay is only a month. Instead of debuting on October 20th, 2023, ‘Dune Part Two’ will now hit theaters on November 17th. Denis Villeneuve, Timothee Chalmet and many of the cast to have survived the first film will be returning in the concluding chapter. Newcomers include Lea Seydoux, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, and the legendary Christopher Walken.

The film will open in direct competition with ‘The Hunger Games’ prequel, ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes.’ which also opens on November 17th. Whether one or either of the films blinks and shifts their release date to avoid a potential clash remains to be seen. But it wouldn’t surprise me. ‘Dune Part Two’ is going to bother the awards ceremonies once again while ‘The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes’ probably won’t.

We will keep you up to date with any further developments regarding these releases. Keep checking back here at The Future Of The Force for all your movie news needs!
