Watched by all. Seen by none. The new trailer for the Ana de Armas starring biographical drama has been revealed. Is the world ready for Blonde?
Everyone has their own beliefs when it comes to the death of icon Marilyn Monroe (I have mine, and The Kennedy family wouldn’t like them). But no matter what you think, the truth is that Marilyn Monroe was a true icon. A legend of the golden age of Hollywood. And her tragic death at such a young age can and never will be forgotten. Many actresses have portrayed her on film and TV over the years.
Now, it is the turn of actress Ana de Armas to step into Marilyn’s shoes and dress on screen. Coming to Netflix on September 28th is the long-awaited film ‘Blonde.’ The film has already gone down in history after gaining an NC-17 rating. Whether that means what we think it means remains to be seen. But the world is waiting. A new trailer for the film has been released today. Let’s take a look:
After a traumatic childhood, Norma Jeane Mortensen became an actress in Hollywood in the 1950s and early 1960s. She became world famous under the pseudonym Marilyn Monroe. But her on-screen appearances are in stark contrast to the love issues, exploitation, abuse of power, and drug addiction she faced in her private life.
As well as Ana de Armas, Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Xavier Samuel, and Julianne Nicholson also appear in supporting roles.
JAMIE LEE CURTIS PRAISE
The legendary Hollywood actress Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana de Armas’ co-star in Knives Out has a family connection to the material. Her father, actor Tony Curtis, who co-starred opposite Monroe in ‘Some Like it Hot’ is portrayed in the film. Jamie Lee Curtis was impressed with Ana de Armas’ performance, after seeing an early cut of the film. She gave the young actress high praise:
“I dropped to the floor. I couldn’t believe it. Ana was completely gone. She was Marilyn.”
We will see what Ana de Armas can do as the iconic Marilyn Monroe when ‘Blonde’ arrives on Netflix on September 28th.
What do you make of Ana de Armas’ performance of Marilyn Monroe so far? Do you think she has nailed the iconic actress spot-on? Or is she another in a long line of poor mimics? Let us know your thoughts!
