Disney’s continuing trend of remaking its classic animated movies shows no signs of slowing down. In May of 2023, they will be releasing the live-action remake of ‘The Little Mermaid.’ Featuring Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, and Javier Bardem as King Triton, the film will remain as a musical. It has been revealed that the film will feature four new original songs alongside the classic tunes. The first teaser trailer for the film has been released at D23. Let’s swim down and take our first look:
The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
‘The Little Mermaid’ will surface in theaters on May 26th, 2023.
