Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Set several years after the last film, we are invited to visit the Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes in 2024.

Based on a novel by Pierre Boulle, the 1968 movie ‘Planet Of The Apes’ opened the door to a multi-billion dollar franchise. Four sequels followed before Tim Burton reimagined the premise in 2001 for a new generation. Rupert Wyatt and Matt Reeves brought the franchise back to life with their ‘Apes’ trilogy which climaxed with 2017s ‘War For The Planet Of The Apes.’ (I admit it, I cried at the end).

We have been hearing that after they purchased 20th Century Fox, Disney was looking to continue the franchise. That has now been confirmed. Next month, Wes Ball (The Maze Runner) starts production on a brand new chapter in the franchise. Starring Freya Allan (The Witcher) alongside Owen Teague and Peter Macron, 2024 sees the release of ‘Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes.’

STEVE ASBELL, PRESIDENT OF 20TH CENTURY STUDIOS

The President of 20th Century Studios, Steve Asbell had this to say about the news:

“’Planet of the Apes’ is one of the most iconic and storied science fiction franchises in film history, as well as being an indelible part of our studio’s legacy. With ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ we are privileged to continue the series’ tradition of imaginative, thought-provoking cinema, and can’t wait to share Wes’ extraordinary vision for this new chapter with audiences in 2024,”
