Four of the biggest Marvel movies coming up get pushed back while Disney gives dates to Poirot and the Apes!
If you were looking forward to sitting down next year and experiencing the reboot of Marvel’s ‘Blade’, think again. If you were waiting for the Deadpool/ Wolverine team-up, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Eager to see the rebooted ‘Fantastic Four’? Not for a while. And excited to see ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’? See you in four years. Yes, the great Marvel reschedule has taken place. To be honest, we have come to expect it now as it happens on a yearly basis. And hey, it’s not like it’s DC Movies, and their pushing movies back, is it? Marvel isn’t that bad. But it has happened once again. And we have you covered.
BLADE
The first delay isn’t really that much of a surprise. Ever since Bassam Tariq stepped away from directing the reboot of ‘Blade’, the writing was on the wall that it would probably be delayed. And so it has been. While the search continues for a new director, the film has been pushed back from its intended November 3rd, 2023 date to now open on September 6th, 2024. Mahershala Ali remains in place to portray the Daywalker in the film with shooting now expected to start in early 2023.
DEADPOOL 3
Those of us (me included) that simply can’t wait for the third ‘Deadpool’ film are in for a disappointment. With the announcement of Hugh Jackman returning as Logan/ Wolverine (after the character’s demise in 2017’s Logan), we were all eager to sit inside a theater on September 6th, 2024. ‘Blade’ has now taken the film’s release slot. But it’s not that bad actually. Instead of debuting in September of 2024, the film will instead open on November 8th, 2024. Ok, so that’s a delay of two months but it’s better than a year to eighteen months late.
AVENGERS: SECRET WARS
That lengthy delay goes to ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ The film was announced to be opening on November 7th, 2025. Not so. The film has been pushed back six months to now open on May 1st, 2026. While we wait and speculate on who the team will be in the film, writer Michael Waldron will have a bit more time to come up with the film’s screenplay.
FANTASTIC FOUR
And finally, the long-awaited reboot of the ‘Fantastic Four’ will keep us waiting a while longer. Not too long though. Instead of opening on November 8th, 2024, it will now open on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2025 instead. And it should give them more time to finally nail the cast down! In addition, an untitled Marvel Movie will be opening on November 7th, 2025.
DISNEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Disney, on the other hand, has announced release dates for two of their upcoming blockbusters. After being announced yesterday, the third Hercule Poirot movie starring Kenneth Branagh, ‘A Haunting In Venice’ will open on September 15th, 2023.
While ‘Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes’, which has only recently started filming will be debuting on May 24th, 2024. This gives it a prime Memorial Day weekend slot.
Of course, these dates are subject to change yet again. Keep checking back at The Future Of The Force for any further announcements about these and any other release date changes.
